Oxford won the Varsity Match 8-7 at Deal, halving Saturday’s singles 5-5 after winning Friday’s foursomes 3-2.
Claudio Consul won both of his own matches giving him an unprecedented 8 wins from 8 matches over his four years as a post graduate at Oxford.
He played particularly well during his Saturday singles. probably 5 under par for the 31 holes played – in beating Cambridge’s best player, an American who captained Yale last year, 6&5.
