Players Required for the Cricketer Cup Golf Trophy -Sunday 29 September

All, We are looking ideally for 2 pairs to play in the Cricketer Cup Golf Trophy held at Denham Golf Club on Sunday 29th September. Format is lunch and then 18 holes of foursomes. Very relaxed, very civilised. For those, who have not been, Denham is a lovely place and certainly a club that knows how to entertain! Criteria is that players should have played OW cricket (not necessarily Cricketer […]

OWGS v Old Blundellians

The annual match between OWGS and Old Blundellians was held in pleasant conditions at Bristol and Clifton Golf Club on Thursday 18th July. Despite the concerns of the match manager,a team of 9 Old Wykehamists and one father of an Old Wykehamist presented themselves by-and-large on time against a team of 9 Old Blundellians and one member of Bristol and Clifton Golf Club, the opposing match manager having been let down by […]

OWGS win the Alba Trophy

The OWGS team of Tom Hawkings and Nick Holt were victorious at the Alba Trophy on Saturday 8th June. This is the first time that the OWGS had won the trophy – note not the first OWs as Paddy Buckley has won the event several times playing for Woking. In blustery conditions on a tough course setup, we put together a 77 in the morning followed by a 76 in […]

Winchester finally get through Grafton Morrish qualifying…

The last time that Winchester qualified for the Grafton Morrish was 2013; yesterday that wrong was put right. For those interested (and bad luck to those who are not), the Morrish requires teams to progress through a process of regional qualifiers. 100 attempt to get into the 48 team finals in October. Winchester WERE perennial finalists – and even lost in the final in 2005 to Malvern. However, 5 years […]

OWGS v Rye – 11th May

Both teams assembled for the beginning of play at 9am. Fresh and bright in the morning and some unpleasant squally showers in the afternoon. At least this was the right way around as somehow a little rain after lunch seems much less of an inconvenience.  OWGS had many regulars in the team but it also included two debutants, Chris Andrew and Charlie Rowley who, thankfully, managed to step in at […]
